Cheesy stuff.
Decided to visit the Gruyere dairy which is actually in Pringy, the next village. Free sample of cheese, and audio guide, very good. Saw cheese being made, and mechanical robotic machine turning the cheeses in the cellar. Each cheese is turned every day for the first few days - no wonder they have a machine !
Walked up to the village of Gruyeres and the whole village is car free. What a pretty place, but very touristy, and prices to match.
Drove a bit further on the the Schwarzsee area, and found a layby where we could "wild camp". Rained heavily all night, and was still raining in the morning, so not the best weather for our intended walk in the mountains. Decided to look at Fribourg instead. Started doing a "find the fountains" quiz trail: the idea is to find 12 fountains in the city, identified by small photos of a part of the fountain. We managed four before the cold and wet drove us in search of a coffee. Fribourg has a cathedral and many churches. There is probably enough pew space for the entire population at one sitting. The Franciscan monastery church, famous for its black madonna, is also something of a surprise as it is built on a hill. The rear pews are about 6 feet higher than those at the front of the church.
Drove back towards Schwarzsee and wild camped again, but in a different layby, which appeared to be the car park for a snow grotto. Unsurprisingly, closed for the season.
