Vercors to Grenoble.
We had hoped to drive through the Grand Goulets (originally carved as little more than a mule track in the mountainside along the gorge) on our way to Grenoble. However; the old tunnel has been replaced by a modern one, but the remainder of the road is still very narrow and winding. Towards the end of the gorge, we arrived at the petits goulets; this is basically the original road, one vehicle wide, and only just high enough for the motorhome. Who needs white knuckle rides when you have roads like this ? Poor van has either been boiling its radiator, or burning its brakes for the past two days.
Found English Congregational Church at Grenoble for Sunday Service, and got a very warm welcome, including a lunch invitation. Very mixed nationalities, English, Australian, American, Nigerian, Dutch, etc. Greetings from from Father Steven Coffin, who was appointed by Bp John Hind !
